Federation of International Combat Athletics

FICA

A new era of combat athletics

One world.
One standard.

Combat sports produced the athletes. Nobody built the structure around them. FICA is building it.

Endless opportunity

The FICA crest: a gold shield over a globe of national flags, quartered with boxing, MMA, kickboxing and wrestling emblems.

Boxing, MMA, kickboxing and wrestling are among the fastest-growing sports on earth.

At the collegiate level, they have almost no formal structure at all.

No shared safety floor. No verified records. No recognized route to the professional ranks.

One platform, built for the athlete

FICA unifies combat sports under a single global standard: athlete development, safety-first competition, international collaboration, and equal opportunity across genders, with a working pathway from the first amateur bout to the professional ranks.

  • Safety first

Every ruleset starts with what protects the athlete, then works outward from there.

  • Athlete development

Competition is the instrument. The career of the person competing is the point.

  • Global unity

One rulebook that travels. A bout in Lagos is scored the way a bout in Lahore is scored.

  • Equal opportunity

Men and women compete under the same federation, with the same pathways open to both.

  • Pathways to the future

Amateur to professional, campus to world stage, with a verified record to carry between them.

  • Legitimacy

Standards a school, a sanctioning body, or an insurer can actually sign off on.

First initiative

Building tomorrow's champions today

FICA's first major initiative is a collegiate MMA platform designed specifically for college-aged athletes, the first of its kind.

  • Structured amateur competition
  • Enhanced safety rules: headgear, shin guards, controlled pacing
  • Verified athlete and coach participation
  • Balanced matchmaking based on experience
  • Open to men and women

The pilot program

The platform opens with controlled pilot events, built to demonstrate safety and organization, assemble a verified athlete pool, produce broadcast-grade media, and earn sponsor and institutional support.

The remit does not stop at the border

FICA's vision is not limited to the United States. Interest has already been registered in Nigeria and Pakistan, with further countries currently in discussion, laying the groundwork for a global collegiate combat athletics network.

The long-term vision

  • A recognized pathway into professional combat sports

Built by people from inside the sport

FICA is a collective of combat sports professionals with decades of combined experience across promotion, athlete management, rules and safety, media, and international sport development.
